BERGEN COUNTY, N.J.- San Francisco Giants’ catcher Buster Posey is no Robin to anyone’s Batman… not even his own pitcher Hunter Strickland.  Why?

After Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper was beaned with Strickland’s fastball, he charged the mound (not after throwing the absolute worst helmet toss in Major League Baseball history).

Normally, catchers put themselves between the hit batsman and the pitcher in an effort to diffuse the situation.  Not Posey, not this time.

As Harper and Strickland squared up on the mound, both benches cleared, initiating an all-out brawl.  From his vantage point well out of harm’s way, Posey might as well have had a seat, a bag of Cracker Jacks, and a beer in a souvenir cup!  Not only did he not try to stop the brawl, he stood there like an idiot while still wearing his full catcher’s gear… including his helmet!

What made matters worse? His post-game press conference!

“Well, I mean after it happened, I kind of saw Harper’s point…. Those are some big guys tumbling around on the ground”.  Huh?

Harper: 6’4″.  Strickland: 6’4″.  Posey: 6’1″.

What kind of excuse is that? Posey is just as tall as they are! Did you ever hear 5’8″ Floyd Mayweather or 5’5″ Manny Pacquaio ever back down from a fight?  Never!

Posey, even if you don’t agree with the fight and even if you side with the player NOT wearing the same colors as you, you at least have to feign an effort!  Show a little loyalty to your team!

Is Posey the worst teammate of all time? Nah, but he definitely is the worst sidekick ever.
